Finally, some music from these hands again

One good thing about the stress of these final academic weeks is that I think it's gotten me hooked on recording again. I wrote a longing Irish song over the summer about a cool friend of mine from Illinois. I took her name out of it for a while 'cause it would have been a sensitive issue with the ex, and it's a typical sappy song that could be written for anyone I guess. But, Christine deserved it. I learned a lot about altruistic living through her. Thinking back on that silly mini-crush (as she called them, and we surely had one)...those impossible feelings, maybe that's why it still means something. I've been working on it for the past 2 hours, and I already feel back into the musical swing of things. Here are the lyrics and chords, for what they're worth. Steal them if you want, it's a...recyclable tune...

G D C

Verse

If I had it my way, this is what I’d do

Everyone alive would write a song about you

And we’d have a great concert, you might even cry

Because everyone is grateful for the twinkle in your eye

6 billions performers, all on one stage

Squealing out love songs, all without pay

With you in a sundress, far up on hill

We’ll sing for forty days, and forty days still ---- Cm

Bridge

G D C

We’d all share a chorus; it’s the most important part

Ebm D F D7 G

We’ve spent years in committees to show what’s in our hearts!

Chorus

G D C

[insert female name here] you’re the best, you’re the sunshine of our days

And when you start laughing our worries turn to haze

Good thing it’s easy to make your voice float

Ebm D G

Cause the world is our ocean, and your word is our boat

Verse

But if I had it even more my way, this song would be your favorite

You’d listen to it backwards and really start to savor it

‘Cause there I placed a secret. I really couldn’t omit

When ever I’m around you it puts me in a joyful fit (yips, yells, cheers)

Then when things settle, and the fairground’s a mess

I’ll run up your trestle, I’ll duly confess

The idea was mine, and my song’s the truest

So jump in my arms and let’s take to the forest ---- Cm

Bridge

But don’t forget the chorus; it’s the most important part

Ebm D F A7 D

We’ve spent years in committees to show what’s in our hearts!

Chorus

D A G

[insert female name here] you’re the best, you’re the sunshine of our days

And when you start laughing our worries turn to haze

Good thing it’s easy to make your voice float

F#m G C7 G

Cause the world is our ocean, and your word is our boat
