Early sign of diabetes

If I had more time to research this, I would. The Japanese word for the disease commonly known around here as diabetes translates to "sweet urine disease." Further, in days of old part of a doctor's diagnostic repertoire was to taste the urine of his patients to check for the sweetness that indicated diabetes.

Simon, Christine and I have found another, more tasteful way to check for diabetes. Keep your eye on the toilet. If it molds up like a fiend, then the chances are there is an increased amount of unprocessed sugar in your urine, and mold loves sugar. This happened to our toilet months before Simon started to drastically loose weight and feel fatigued, but concurrently with his disease-induced increase in water intake and urination. Being thirsty, drinking a lot and peeing a lot never struck us as out of the ordinary, and hence moldy toilets could be a reliable early warning sign for the onset of diabetes.

Keep your glassies on the splashies,
Ben
